My Pit Crew
My Pit Crew: Mr. Ng Chong Lin (left) and Mr. Tee Sim (from Hin Yap Trading Co).
I am so glad I found them. Mr. Ng who runs this bicycle workshop in Ujong Pasir has been in the business for more than 40 years. Both him and Mr. Tee have vast experience in bicycle maintenance and repair. Few have asked me how I kept my trishaw in good working condition. Well, here’s your answer.
Apart from the normal check-up which I do it myself, I will send my trishaw to these gentlemen for monthly services (due to the many number of trips I made). They insist of doing it for me for free of charge unless there is something major to be changed. Guess I am afraid to get stuck along the highway while on training, where there is no shop, only a few food and fruit stalls. I’m usually armed with a bicycle pump, a spare tyre and tube plus some tools during training.
Currently, I am using heavy duty bicycle tyres and yet, I have already changed new set of tires twice in the past 12 months.
Now, here’s something interesting…. in the next 3 weeks I will be working for these Uncles in their workshop, (without pay) for few days. They have promised to teach me all the basic and necessary maintenance skill and repair for my survival on the journey. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Keep it up! Well Done!
